Towards the end of 2018, the activities of the Awawa Boys became an issue for residents of Lagos mainland.

The police have since been on alert to ensure that they are not allowed to grow into another evil like Badoo.

The Lagos Task Force, on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi carried out some raids on criminal hideouts across the state.

Eight members of notorious 'Awawa Boys' were arrested during the enforcement operation carried out around Capitol, Isale-Oja and Agege.

The agency also arrested 23 suspected miscreants during an over-night raid around Shitta area of Surulere and confiscated bags substances suspected to be Indian hemp with other out-lawed illicit drugs such as 'Novalyn with Codeine cough syrup'.

Head of the Task Force, CSP Egbeyemi regretted that most parents have abandoned their responsibility toward their children.

The result is that too many as youths have gone deeply into gangsterism and most of the violent crimes now being committed are perpetrated by teenagers who lack parental care.

Egbeyemi maintained that the agency would continue to raid all other areas known to be inhabited by undesirable elements.

He also confirmed that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi has directed that all those arrested be charged to court for prosecution.
