Arsenal’s new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may not make his debut in this weekend’s clash against Everton.

Manager Arsene Wenger revealed on Friday that the Gabonese striker is down with illness.

“He started [training] yesterday but wasn’t completely well.”

"I will see with the medical department."

Aubameyang joined Arsenal for £56m from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in a deal that led to Olivier Giroud’s move to Chelsea.

Wenger is convinced Aubameyang has what it takes to rise to the challenge of playing in England.

"If he had played in the Premier League, the Bundesliga would be a good challenge," he said. "There is no inferiority.

"It is a new challenge where the football is more combative and intense."
