One of the assistant coaches with the Super Eagles, Imama Amapakabo now has a new job having been named as the new manager for Nigeria Professional Football League side, El-Kanemi Warriors.

El-Kanemi Warriors FC, who have dropped 15 players and retained 25 ahead of the new season, will be unveiling former Rangers manager, Amapakabo as Ladan Bosso's replacement on Tuesday.

Anthony Obaseki, who is the Media Manager for El-Kanemi Warriors said the Maiduguri-based team opted for change.

“I want to state categorically and clearly too, that the news making the rounds that El-Kanemi Warriors FC sacked coach Bosso never emanated from the Management of the Maiduguri based side as there is no iota of truth in the entire fabricated write up, a typical show of yellow journalism.

“Never was he sacked, just that he has served out his two years contract with the team and the contract expired last month and the board did not renew it, which is normal. It will be wrong for anybody to stay in the comfort of his room to make such wicked and unfounded conclusions.

“Bosso did his best for the team for the two years he spent with his first year we ended the league 8th position and last season we ended 6th position. We are in good relationship with Bosso he is part of us we miss him but life must go on, he further remarked.” Obaseki restated

In the 2016/2017 season, Amapakabo led Rangers to end a 32-year wait for a major piece of silverware when he led them to win the NPFL title, but months later he was eased out of his post as Rangers battled relegation.

The former Nigeria U17 goalkeeper has previously worked as assistant coach with Enyimba and Sharks.
