President of Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Malboum Kalkaba has rated high the just-concluded African Senior Athletics Championship in Asaba.

Kenya emerged overall winner with 11 gold medals and are trailed by South Africa and Nigeria with nine gold each.

South Africa has superior silver medals to finish overall second after winning the two previous editions.

In a statement signed by Olukayode Thomas, CAA Asaba 2018 Head of Media and Publicity, Kalkaba in an email to Ogba shortly after he arrived Cameroun read, “I am delighted that most of the teams had a safe journey back home. For those still in transit, I pray they arrive safely.

“Asaba 2018 was a great championship, we know the memories of great championships leave long and the good memories of Asaba 2018 will leave for long with us.

“The Delta State Government and the LOC has raised a higher bar in our championship with many innovations like the introduction of Delegation Registration Meeting, prize money, transports subsidy for participating countries and many more, we look forward to have another great championship in Algeria in 2020."

Kalkaba also thanked the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who he described as a good host.
