Asaba 2018: Ese Brume Dedicates Gold Medal To Passionate Crowd
One of the high points at the ongoing 21st African Senior Athletics Championships is the passionate fans that have greeted the Stephen Keshi Stadium since Day 1 of the biennial event.
Despite pegging the lowest ticket at N500 for the popular stand to control the crowd, trust the Deltans and their love for sports, the stadium has always been full.
Most of the athletes that have competed inside the Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa main bowl have consistently waxed lyrical about the energetic crowd and home girl; Ese Brume is doing same even as she dedicated her Long Jump gold medal to the passionate fans.
Brume was the top gun in the Women’s Long Jump event; leaping to first place with 6.83m.
The ever-smiling long jumper who thanked the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa for bringing Africa to Asaba equally said she is excited to equally deliver the expected gold medal from her.
Brume said: “The supporters and fans, you all rock! I really appreciate the support and the energy at Stephen Keshi Stadium! they have been giving us all the added boost we need, and we are very grateful to them.
The new African Champion also thanked her coaches and her ‘closet’ pal on the tracks Tobi Amusan who has also been fantastic; winning gold in the 100m Hurdles event and in the 4x100m.
