Asaba 2018: Debut Medal Excites Nigeria’s Temilola Ogunrinde
When Ogunrinde Temilola was leaving the United States of America to compete for Nigeria at the 2018 African Senior Athletics Championship, one thing was on her mind.
That target of winning a medal for her country, was achieved when she won silver in the women’s hammer throw event at Asaba 2018.
Temilola set a new record in hammer throw with a 67.39 metres finish.
It was her first time to wear the green and white colour, and she made it count by winning her first medal for herself and country.
An elated Temilola could not hold back her joy as she was all smile, when she told Bounce News how excited she is.
“It was really amazing, I am happy and can’t wait to get back home and tell my family and friends.
“I am really glad to come here and win a medal. The competition was really good, I’m grateful for other athletes because I learnt a lot from them, which really helped me to find a lot about myself.”
Temilola is already planning for the future, hoping to win more medals.
“For me, its just to get back home, continue training and be ready for toucher competitions in the future.”
