Army Kills Boko Haram Members Extorting Borno Villagers
The Nigerian Army says it's troops killed many suspected Boko-Haram insurgents and recovered 147 livestock in Borno State.
Members of the terrorist group had come to Jentilo and Gesada villages of Kukawa and Guzamala Local Government Areas in Borno to extort residents, but the army intervened.
A statement by the spokesman for the army, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, said the troops of Sector 3 Operation ‘Lafiya Dole’, in conjunction with 82 Task Force Battalion, carried out the operation during clearance operations.
They killed the insurgents when they (insurgents) tried to extort money and rustle livestock belonging to the villagers, the statement said.
Chukwu explained that some items recovered from them include 147 livestock and two AK47 rifles.
He said that the troops returned the livestock to their owners after proper screening and confirmation by the District Head and Civilian Joint Task Force personnel.
