Aregbesola’s Office Will Spend 22 Billion Naira In 2018
Osun State receives less than 2 billion naira as federal allocation every month. Yet, the office of governor Rauf Aregbesola will spend a whopping 22 billion naira in 2018.
The sum, according to State’s Commissioner for Cabinet Matters, Sen. Mudashiru Husain would be used in running the office of the governor, including executing some capital projects.
Hussain disclosed this while speaking at the 2018 budget defence session at the State House of Assembly on Thursday in Osogbo.
The Office of the Governor is made up of 30 bureaus and agencies, all of which are funded from the state’s budget.
According to Husain, 13.9 billion naira of the amount would be spent on recurrent expenditure, while the balance of 8.3 billion naira would be devoted to capital expenditure.
However, this proposed sum is even less than that for last year as the commissioner pointed out that the proposed spending represented 0.9% reduction in the 2017 figure of 22.4 billion naira.
But more important to note is the fact that the agencies under the governor’s office had lowered its revenue projection for the fiscal year from 18.4 billion naira in 2017 to a paltry 4.3 billion naira in 2018.
