Is there some silent crisis within the ranks of the ruling APC?

There has been disputes among party members in several states with the most recent recorded in Rivers and Kaduna states.

The party disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday in a statement signed by its National Chairman, John Oyegun.

APC noted that the congresses held across the nation were peaceful except Rivers and Kaduna states which were marred by violence.

The statement added that the party strongly regrets the acts of violence especially that of Kaduna in which two journalists were injured.

He said ““The party will investigate the reported cases and take necessary actions in line with the party’s constitution against whoever is found culpable. The party congratulates and commends all the states whose exercise went peacefully. Where grievances have been reported, the party shall examine such cases and address them accordingly.”

The party held congresses in all the 36 states and the FCT to elect delegates for their forth coming non-elective Convention later in the year.

A fraction of APC in Kaduna State had petitioned the party's leadership on the state congress which they said did not hold.

A member of the fraction, Shehu Sani, who represents Kaduna Central in the Senate, had alleged that the delegates’ list for the election was altered and that due process was not followed.

“They sat down in the palace of their gods to write names and sent it down here for us to accept; that can never happen,” Sanisaid.

He called on the national leadership of the APC to rescue the party in Kaduna State from destruction.
