The recent disturbing signal from the political landscape of Ondo state appears to have left a huge task for the security agencies.

Just like other states, Ondo did not only warm up for the general elections scheduled to take place on Saturday February 16 but has in the last few days been enmeshed in cases of violence.

On Thursday, the PDP candidate for the state house of Assembly, Festus Akingbaso was again allegedly attacked in his house with his car vandalized.

According to him, the attack was sponsored by the APC members in Idanre local government, the constituency where he is vying to represent at the state level.

"They are well known APC thugs in Idanre. They see me as a threat to their candidate and it is obvious they are sent to intimidate and scare me out of the contest. But I will not be intimidated.

"If not for the grace of God and the fact that I quickly made an escape immediately I noticed their presence, it would have been a different story by now. They actually came for me and from their looks, no one needed to tell me they meant business."

The APC chairman in the State who is also from the constituency, Ade Adetimehin denied the allegation, saying his members are peace-loving and law abiding.

"Since the commencement of electioneering activities in the state, our members have been peaceful and law abiding because this is the gospel we have always been preaching in the state."

The divisional police officer in the area, Hammed Morakinyo confirmed that a report has been made by the victim and investigation has commenced to fish out the hoodlums behind the act.
