If the handwriting on the wall is anything to go by, the All Progressives Congress is definitely heading for a brick wall as far as the 2019 general elections are concerned in Ondo State.

From all indications, it is obvious all is not well with the party and the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and his loyalists in the party are threatening fire and brimstone if the National Working Committee refuse to throw the dice in their direction.

All the anointed candidates of the governor for the Senate and Federal House of Representatives were allegedly screened out of the contest.

This seems to have paved way for those, whom party members believe to be arch political enemies of the governor, to contest the party primaries unopposed.

A source within the party in the state revealed that governor Akeredolu had told the president to prevail on the NWC headed by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to revert the decision.

"This is an undemocratic development and it is capable of tearing the party apart if nothing is done to right the wrong, there will be implosion before the general election in Ondo state," the source disclosed.

Also, the state party chairman, Ade Adetimehin described the action as unfair and a decision capable of setting party members against themselves.

"With this development, it is obvious that Adams Oshiomhole does not have what it takes to lead the party to victory in the next election because he had already divided the house. A house divided against itself will surely collapse," he maintained.

Some party stakeholders in the state however hold contrary opinions.

Bamise Adedugba claimed there is no basis for Governor Akeredolu's grievances because he too was a product of imposition.

"You can't fight a course you are benefiting from. Akeredolu in 2016 was imposed on APC by the power that be in the presidency and he should accept this as a payback time. All I will ask him to do is to bring everybody together and work for the success of the party."

Some of his anointed candidates who were not cleared include Chairman of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko Governing Council, Tunji Abayomi, former house of assembly speaker, Victor Olabimtan, Ondo representative on the NDDC Board, Lucky Ayedatiwa, Morayo Lebi, Pastor Jide Ipinsagba, Gbenga Elegbeleye, Dr. Adeoye Julius, Olatunji Felder, Mr. Odunayo Akinrinsola and Engr Janet Febisola.

Party members have vowed to occupy the street in protest against the decision and if nothing is done, defection becomes inevitable.
