APC Plotting To Rig Lagos Governorship Election — PDP
The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to hold on tight to power.
The PDP State Publicity Secretary, Taofiq Gani, in a statement on Sunday accused APC of allegedly plotting to use the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and thugs who would be deployed as observers and activists to rig the 2019 election.
Gani said: “The Lagos APC is terminally divided and cannot win any election in the state. We have garnered information from different sources indicating that the APC is not willing to let go the control of Lagos State in particular.
“So much that the party leaders in Lagos at one of their meetings analysed that keeping only Lagos State is worth more than having all other South-West states.
“Thus, the desperation and frustration exposed by Mr Igbokwe has confirmed our information and vindicated our assertions that the APC has never won any fair elections in the state.”
PDP said it would mobilise all legal means and support “to seriously resist any plan to rig us out in 2019”.
Besides, it added that the confession of the APC leaders that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode stopped funding party structures had indicated that the party has been milking the state.
However, the APC spokesman, Joe Igbokwe dismissed the allegation.
He said it was wishful thinking that the PDP would win the 2019 election in the state, adding that the APC structures are intact.
