As we count down to the forthcoming July 14, 2018 Ekiti governorship election, tension is building up.

The big players are busy strategizing while some of them are already talking tough, assured of victory.

All things being equal, this is a battle between the state ruling party, PDP and the national ruling party, APC.

After succeeding in taking Ondo state away from PDP, the All Progressives Congress are determined to do it again in Ekiti.

And their National Chairman, Mr John Odigie Oyegun, on Monday confirmed expectation that the election is a must win for his party.

The party kicked-off a fresh drive for the registration of new members for the Ekiti APC and that was where Oyegun spoke.

According to him, the party will deploy all available resources to win the election which he described as a litmus test ahead of 2019 general elections.

“We will work hard to ensure that Ekiti returns to the progressive fold after the July 14 election.

“Though, we are in power at the centre, but that doesn’t mean we should not work hard.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, as you know, will not rig or compromise or subvert the will of the electorate, so we must work hard to deserve the victory that will come to us,” he said.

He also promised all the 33 APC governorship aspirants that the party would conduct a free, fair and credible primary in the state.
