Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, was humiliated by loyalists of Governor Jibirilla Bindow of Adamawa State at a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ex-SGF was stopped from speaking at the Government House, Yola over the weekend.

Lawal's successor, Boss Mustapha, Governor Bindow and top hierarchy of the party watched as Lawal was humiliated.

The crowd heckled and shouted him down.

Besides, the microphone in his hand was switched off to disconnect him from the public address system.

Thereafter, the national anthem was raised to end the event.

Babachir had requested to speak at the meeting after Mustapha and the governor had made their remarks.

The request was communicated to the master of ceremonies and Chief of Staff, Adamawa State Government House, Abdulrahman Abba-Jimeta.

His request was initially declined, but was later accepted after the governor had made his speech.

However, as soon as the former SGF began to speak, he was interrupted with noise and subsequently the national anthem.

Bindow and the SGF had earlier in their remarks stressed the need for party unity and also thanked party loyalists for their roles in the victory of the APC in 2015.

Babachir was said to have stormed out of the event with other aggrieved members of the party among them a former governorship candidate on the platform of the defunct ACN, Markus Gundiri, and Sen. Muhammad Muallahyidi,

He described the meeting as choreographed.

"We were expecting an interactive meeting but what we saw today was more like a government briefing.

"It was one way. The only reason that I was allowed to talk is because I threatened to speak to members of our party through the press.

"I insisted that I must have a say, however, when what I was saying was not palatable, they initiated different antics to drown my voice."
