APC Demands Arrest Of Minister
.The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on law enforcement agencies to arrest the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, for allegedly inciting people against the party.
Usani was declared winner by a faction of the party at its governorship primaries conducted by the Etim John-led executive in Calabar.
Briefing newsmen in Calabar on Wednesday, the state Chairman of APC, Dr. Matthew Achigbe, said the Minister had offended the party.
He insisted that Senator John Owan-Enoh was the winner of the party’s duly conducted governorship primaries.
He maintained that Owan-Enoh, who represents Cross River Central senatorial district, was declared winner with 82, 272 votes to beat four other aspirants to get the party ticket.
His words: “The exercise did not have the backing of the law. We want to state categorically that the declaration was not only false, illegal and undemocratic but criminal in every sense. The party held an authentic primary election in October, 2018 in all the wards.
“The constitution of our great party, in Section 13.4 (XIV), provides that the National Working Committee, NWC, shall organise primary elections for the nomination of its presidential candidate, governorship candidates, and candidates into the National and State Assemblies.
“It, therefore, goes to show that any purported primary election that falls short of the above provisions of the constitution is null and void. Permit us to also observe that Pastor Usani has a sinister motive.
