Chief Donatus Nwankpa, Abia Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday said the state's ward and Local Government Congress has been extended to Sunday.

Nwankpa said this during an interview with newsmen at the APC state secretariat, Umuahia.

He said a framework that would ensure hitch free congresses across the state had been initiated.

On the feud in the party, Nwankpa said "no harmonisation has taken place there, what APC has called for is congress and we shall wait to see the outcome.

"Ahead of the congress, I want to call on everyone to follow the laid down procedure so that both aggrieved and those who think that they are on top everyone would be carried along.

“It is not true that there are some litigations against the congress.

“There is nothing like that because the national congress committee that is sent to Abia is not part of that litigation and the congresses are not organised by the state executive."

This does not reflect or include the congress Committee. There is no other thing against the congresses therefore the congress committee is a separate body and what is in contention is the previous and former congresses done in the state which is expiring any moment from now.

So in that circumstance nobody can say that the congress has run foul of the legal impediment. The position is that for now Abia congresses is officially extended till tomorrow.

Mr Abdulahi Bello, the Chairman of the Ward and Local Government Congress Committee disclosed that a reconciliatory meeting involving ten persons from each faction is planned to unite aggrieved members.

"The situation that confronts us here is that I need to bring everyone on board.

God created the entire fingers together and they are not of the same length.

"So this shows that each of the fingers are important. Therefore let us try to carry everyone along as one family. This is my first assignment which I am trying to get it done," He said

In his remark, Dr Chris Akomas, an APC chieftain, assured members of the Congress committee of the cooperation of the members of the party in the state.

"Respect is reciprocal and all that we have asked for is respect "

He appealed to the Congress committee to give equal opportunity to the various factions, "so that the peace would be total".
