Less than 48 hours after Ogbonnaya Onu was accused of hijacking an All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Ebonyi state, another minister, Aisha Jummai Alhassan has been accused of same in Taraba.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Onu allegedly hijacked the seven-man committee sent by the National Secretariat of the party to monitor the exercise in Ebonyi state.

In Taraba, two groups were having serious problems with Ward Congress Conducted in the state on Sunday.

As a result, police shot bullets in the air to disperse thugs at the APC Secretariat in Jalingo.

The ward congress elections scheduled to hold across the country got delayed in the state on Saturday, following late distribution of election materials as stakeholders of the party were embroidered in controversy over the list of returning officers.

Sources from the party Secretariat in the state revealed to our reporter that on Sunday, a meeting of the party stakeholders was held to address some of the grievances by the two groups in the APC between integrity and that of Minister's group.

"In the meeting the Women Affairs Minister agreed for the cancelation of the election results that held on Saturday to accommodate all the stakeholders.

"Former Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi and Ahmed Yusuf Gamaliel complained that the process was hijacked by the women affairs minister as most of the returning officers were said to be Aisha Alhassan's loyalists”

Our reporter, who was at the APC secretariat, reports that shortly after most of the party's stakeholders left the secretariat in anger, their supporters took over the secretariat which caused confusion.

The police on duty at the secretariat shot sporadically in the air and forced the hoodlums to disperse.

Reacting to the development, the Secretary of the APC ‘Integrity Group’, a faction of the party in the state, Mr. Aaron Arthimas accused the Women Affairs Minister of a desperate ploy to get everything to herself as a reason for the misunderstanding.

Arthimas revealed that the minister was using her influence and the structure she put in place in the outgoing EXCO to get her people in place for her selfish interest.

According to him, most of the Governorship aspirants of the party were united against the manipulation of the Women Affairs minister who was bent on doing what she thinks would benefit her alone.

But Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, who is the Women Affairs Minister, in an interview with journalists, debunked the allegations leveled against her.

She said, "people are free to insinuate anything, but the truth of the matter is that I have not hijack the process.

"If I hijacked the process as is being alleged, the process would not have been ongoing. So, people are free to insinuate, but the allegations are not true," she said.
