Angry Residents Call For Prosecution Of Person Who Abused 6-Year-Old Boy
Residents of Oke Ijebu area of Akure, Ondo State are boiling with anger over the maltreatment of a six-year old boy named Emmanuel.
Emmanuel was found in critical condition by the roadside in the area with his intestine pierced through his belly while bloody scars were noticeable on his head which showed that he was brutally whipped by yet to be identified individual.
A resident of the area, Ayantola Yewande who called for immediate investigation and arrest of the perpetrator said it was a horrible experience for a child of that age.
"There is nobody that will see the boy in that condition and will not cry. From the way he was found, it was obvious that he had been seriously maltreated and brutalised.
"It is quite unfortunate that nobody could trace his residence or that of his guardians. And that is why we urge the Nigeria police and the appropriate authority to do a thorough investigation and get to the root of the matter so that the poor boy can get justice." she said.
On his part, Mr Ekundayo believed it was a ploy for the perpetrator to bring the neighborhood into trouble.
"It is obvious the boy was dumped at that spot after being beaten to a pulp with the believe he would die before he would be discovered by people. But I know whoever did that to him will not escape the wrath of God."
A couple in the area, Angela and Monday who took the victim to the state specialist hospital said the boy was a victim of domestic abuse.
Officials from the children department of the state ministry of women affairs who confirmed the incident said the ministry is collaborating with the state police command to fish out the perpetrator and bring him to book.
