The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced collation of ballots cast in yesterday’s Anambra governorship election.

Already most of the results figures from the  wards are already in but there is no official result until INEC declares its results as collated from the wards and local governments.

Anambra has total of 2,158,171 registered voters; 21 council areas, 326 registration areas, 4,608 polling units and 731 voting points.

The final result would be announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Zana Akpabio, the current Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar. Prof. Akapabio would be assisted by the Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Nwachukwu Orji.

A winner is expected to be declared afterwards.

The Saturday election has been a hot race between the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA),  Willie Obiano, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Nwoye, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oseloka Obaze.
