The All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate, Mrs Nkoli Mmegbuaneze, has won the bye-election in Idemili North Constituency for the Anambra State House of Assembly conducted by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Saturday.

The constituency Returning Officer, Prof. James Epoke of University of Calabar, announced the result on Sunday in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

Epoke said that Mmegbuanaeze scored 11,526, while Tony Muonagor, aka Tony One Week of APC had 5,677, Nnebunwa Ude of UPP scored 2,940 and Charles Udezue of PDP polled 2,758.

But that is not all that is interesting about this story.

The most interesting part is that Nkoli replaced her husband, Mr Francis Mmegbuanaeze, who died on August 16 this year.

Meanwhile the governorship election results have seen Governor Willie Obiano of APGA returned as governor.

While the elections were largely adjudged free and fair, there were cases of over-voting noted in some communities in Orumba South, leading to cancellation of results in 4 polling units.

This was also the case in Aguata LGA where results were cancelled in 4 polling units, and total number of cancelled results stood at 2,476.
