The 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards nominations have been announced.

The announcement was made in a televised broadcast on all Africa Magic channels and hosted by Nigerian comedian/actor, Bovi and Ghanaian actress/TV host, Joselyn Dumas.

'Tatu' had the highest nomination with 12 nods, followed by 'Alter Ego' with 10. Jade Osiberu's 'Isoken' had 6 nominations and 'Banana Island Ghost' got nominated four times.

Below are some surprises from this year's nominations.

1. Adesua Etomi got nominated for Best Actress in a comedy for '10 Days in Sun City'

We have seen Adesua Etomi in better roles.

In the AY Makun film, '10 Days In Sun City', Etomi's character does not flatter her acting abilities, but the jury seemed to like her that way.

2. Some mix up in the 'Banana Island Ghost' nominations

The nominations for 'Banana Island Ghost' were a little confusing.

Chigul and Patrick Diabuah possibly deserved to be nominated best actor and best actress for their roles in 'Banana Island Ghost', but did not get any nomination.

On the other hand, Shola Dorcas Fapson and Tomiwa Edun who had almost inconsequential roles got nominated for their supporting roles.

The real accolade for the way his character made the main actor (Patrick Diabuah) look good, is Bimbo Manuel who played God.

3. Adjetey Anang got nominated twice in one category?

Funke Akindele was nominated twice in the Best Actress in a Comedy category for 'Jenifa's Diary' and 'A Trip to Jamaica' in the 2017 AMVCAs, and she won.

Now Ghanaian actor got nominated twice for Best Actor in a TV or Drama series and might just pull a ‘Funke’.

Were the jury not sure which performance was better?

Awards will be presented on September 1.
