The Lagos State government have been accused of only paying lip service to youth development especially as it concerns grass-root sports.

The social media space has been filled up with knocks for the Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who is been accused of spending millions on projects like the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon and bringing former World Boxing Champion Evander Holyfield to Lagos.

One of those pained by situation craved for anonymity: "It was really a disappointing scenario at Herbert Macaulay way in Yaba on Saturday. You need to see the large numbers of Lagos young athletes in their hundreds protesting.

"They have been preparing for the past months, many went for zonal qualifications, excelled over other states in 9 different sports. Gathered their luggages and ready to travel since Thursday for the championship which they have been denied twice, making this the third, only to be denied representation.

"Least not forget, winners at this youth games will represent the country at the forthcoming coming Youth Olympics and World Youth games, the future of these lads have been dashed.

"The Governor and his team have their children, since they aren't among these athletes, they care not, all they spend Lagos money on is the useless money scamming 500 million naira gulped marathon race and another waste of beach soccer.

"Whereas, they go on media to shout nonsense about developing sports from grassroots, coaches and athletes of Lagos states suffering.
This is a shame and a scam because allocations had been approved for grassroots sports development."
