Alleged Rapist Walks Away Free Due To Absence Of Police Station
Christopher Arigidi, an untamed pedophile is now walking freely in a town where he was said to have committed an abominable act.
But each time he appears in the public, his sight usually creates an impression of a lawless society that has sacrificed it's future generation on the altar of flippancy.
The 23-year-old Arigidi had on Wednesday defiled a 3-year old girl in Apata, Ese-Odo LGA of Ondo state but rather than making him face the penalty of his act, he was let go by the community Chairman, Rufus Jagun on the excuse that there is no police station in the town to detain him.
According to sources, Arigidi, who attended a naming ceremony in the community, took the victim to his house and allegedly defiled her by rubbing engine oil on her private parts to ease penetration.
One of the youths, Oshodi Ibeji who confirmed the incident said following a distress scream by the victim's mother, they invaded the suspect's room.
"After he was seriously beaten by the youths in our town, he was handed over to the Chairman to lock him up pending when proper punishment will be meted on him but only to realize he had been released and he is now walking freely."
Another youth, James Akume said it is not the first time the Chairman will be giving cover to criminals in the town.
Reacting to the allegation, the community chairman, Jagun said he did not release the suspect but only told some people to lock him up since there is no police station in the community.
The victim’s mother, Pouma Ologun, said she wanted justice for her daughter and would like the community to deal with Arigidi.
