Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United have resumed their journey to Jigawa for the first Round of their AITEO CUP match against Haifa FC of Dutse.

The journey of the Akwa Ibom team was halted on Monday owing to a road accident.

The club in a brief statement confirmed the accident but were also quick to douse fears regarding the safety of the players and official.

The club wrote: "We have been involved in a minor road accident along Obiagu Lekwesi in Umunneochi LGA in Abia state on our way to Jigawa for the first Round of AITEO CUP match against Haifa FC of Dutse.

"We are all safe but our team bus is in a terrible condition. After spending 8 hours on the road, another team bus from Uyo arrived to convey the team to Enugu where we will rest to continue the journey tomorrow Tuesday.
