Akeredolu's Timely Passage Saves Accident Victims In Ondo
Wrecked vehicles and accident victims were all that was left of the fatal crash that occurred in the Owo-Ikare Akoko road, Ondo State on Saturday.
Not less than 10 people were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident which allegedly involved a truck and an 18 seater bus.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck while trying to overtake another vehicle rammed into the bus which was heading to Lagos from Abuja.
"The truck driver was trying to overtake from a sharp bend not minding if another vehicle was coming or not.
"The moment he hit the bus and realized the havock he had created, he sped off. He never bothered to wait", an eyewitness who simply identified himself as Segun said.
While some of the victims were wriggling in pains and struggling to come out of the wreck, the state governor while returning from an inspection tour came to the scene and ordered his entourage to begin a rescue operation.
The victims were taken to the Federal Medical centre, Owo for immediate medical attention.
Confirming the incident, the ondo state police public relations, Femi Joseph said the timely intervention of the state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu rescued the victims.
He noted that the police are already on the trail of the truck driver.
