Ajimobi Did Not Modernise Oyo State – Sharafadeen Alli
Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun is the governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Oyo state.
He disagrees with Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s claim that the state has been modernized under his administration.
For Abiodun, the last time Oyo state experienced modernization was when former governor, Rashidi Ladoja left office.
Now, he wants Oyo people to vote him as the Governor so that he can continue the good work which Sen. Ladoja has laid down and continue from where he stopped.
He made this call on Friday, December 28, while addressing journalists at a media parley in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
"About six local government areas don't have general hospitals and our people are suffering, we don't know the position of LAUTECH today, children study in unconducive environment, and when last did taps run and Ajimobi says Oyo is modernized.
“The problem in Oyo State is that we copy things from other states, but we copy and make mistakes," he said.
He reiterated further that he will give his best to the people of Oyo State and provide a government not lower in quality than that of Sen. Ladoja.
Barrister Abiodun also addressed the 1,000 naira levy being paid by students in Oyo State.
"I do not believe in people paying to attend primary and secondary schools. It is compulsory and when something is compulsory, it must be free. Education, health should be a social service to the people not a money-making venture."
Another important issue to him is that local government areas in the state should be autonomous for them to be effective.
He said, "If our local government are not autonomous, we will keep having the problems we are having. Any state government that does not support autonomy is wicked.
“I want to assure the people of Oyo State that in my administration, I will support local government autonomy, we are going to create a prosperous Oyo State and restore its lost glory."
