Legendary American boxer Muhammad Ali will have an airport named after him and that is happening three years after he passed on.

His hometown, Louisville, will be naming the Louisville International Airport after Ali

The decision was made based on a recommendation by a working group that’s been studying the renaming for over a year.

The airport will be known as the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

Jim Welch, chairman of the Airport Authority Board, said: "This tells the world how proud we are to associate ‘The Greatest’ with not only our great city, but our great airport".
