A rally organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State descended into violence in Alimosho area of the state.

A female supporter of the party was allegedly hacked to death during the campaign held on Friday.

The rally, which was organised by party leaders in the Egbe-idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), was to canvass support and votes for President Muhamnadu Buhari,  the party's governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos West Senatorial candidate, Senator, Solomon Olamilekan and other APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Bounce News gathered that trouble started at the rally when some yet to be identified cult group members allegedly attacked another rival group over sharing of money, and in the process, the victim was stabbed repeatedly, before she later gave up the ghost.

Many others were said to have sustained different degrees of injury in the process.

According to an eyewitness, “the lady, simply, identified as Rashidat, from Isheri-Olofin area, was struggling with some group of armed young boys who attacked her in the ensuing melee, and within a twinkle of an eye, she was rolling in a pool of her own blood.  

Efforts to save her life proved abortive as she later died on the way to the hospital.

The development led to panic among residents as news filtered in that the rival group members were planning a reprisal attack soon.

Recall that a similar incident occurred earlier in the month at the official flag-off of APC campaign at Ikeja, where the popular officer of the National Union of Road  Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called, “MC Oluomo,” was attacked and stabbed by a member of a rival group.

He has since been discharged after medical attention and currently recuperating in the United States.
