Movement is now restricted within Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South local government areas and it will be from dusk to dawn. 

The Plateau State government announced the curfew on Sunday, a day after persons suspected to be herdsmen killed at least 11 people in different communities.

A spokesman for the State government, Mr Rufus Bature, said in a statement in Jos that the curfew was to avert a breakdown of law and order.

"Movement will be restricted from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. except for those on essential duties," the statement read.

Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area were attacked on Saturday.

Also hit were Daffo and Kuba communities in Bokkos Local Government. 

The attack was confirmed on Sunday by the spokesman for the Police Command in Plateau State, Mr Terna Tyopev.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos that “the gunmen invaded the villages on Saturday and killed several people.

“Based on the number of corpses recovered and buried, we can confirm 11 killed”.
