Mali and Nigeria both boast of good teams but only one will progress into the final of FIBA Women AfroBasket 2017 on Saturday .

A fierce battle is expected as Nigeria Women’s Senior Basketball team, D’Tigress battle it out against their Malian counterparts on Saturday in one of the 2 semi-final games of the AfroBasket 2017.

Hosts, Mali cruised to a comfortable victory over Egypt 90-50 to book their place in the Semi-Finals while the Nigerian Ladies blew away their Ivorian counterparts 98-43 also on Friday to inch closer to winning their third continental title.

A breakdown of the Nigeria semi-final game saw the team leading at the end of every quarter with 23-13, 46-15, 71-32 and 98-43.

D'Tigress are the only team that have won all their games at the FIBA Women AfroBasket 2017 and coach of the team, Sam Vincent is upbeat that his girls stand a good chance of proceeding to the final and by extension book an automatic 2018 FIBA World cup ticket.

He said: “We know we have to come out, have an exceptional game and really defend the post very well and we have to get out and run".

Meanwhile, Mozambique, who shocked title favorites Angola in a remarkable victory 61-47, will face Senegal in the other semi final game.

Both Mozambique and Senegal have tasted defeats in the hands of D'Tigress and they will be hoping to avenge the loss in the event they get another chance against the Nigerian Ladies in Sunday's final.
