Afrobasket 2017: D’Tigers Captain Celebrates MVP Award
The captain of Nigeria’s D’Tigers, Ike Diogu is happy to have a consolation despite the team losing their African title.
This is because he has been voted as the Most Valuable Player for the just concluded Afrobasket 2017.
The 34-year old power forward was quite massive for Nigeria as he recorded a tournament-high 22 points per game, and averaged 8.7 rebounds per game at the 16-team FIBA Africa's most important competition.
Diogu, who was also been named on the All-Tournament team, was the tournament’s highest scorer with a total of 132 points and was Nigeria's highest points scorer in four of their six games at the tournament.
Diogu was unable to show how good he was two years ago as he was injured when D’Tigers won their maiden African title.
He however made a great comeback at the Afrobasket 2017, thus earning the MVP title.
