The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has congratulated the men's basketball team, D'Tigers for their impressive run at the Afrobasket tournament.

The Minister was quite appreciative of the D'Tigers for clinching silver at the Championship held in Dakar and Tunisia over the past two weeks.

Dalung said the dedication and professionalism exhibited by the the Nigeria Basketball Federation led by Musa Kida has brought out the best in the players.

"On behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and the good people of Nigeria, I wish to heartily congratulate you on your feat at the just concluded FIBA Afrobasket in Tunisia.

"We acknowledge the sacrifices the  players and officials made to bring glory to our fatherland. There is no greater sacrifice than using your energy and resources to ensure that Nigeria's name is once again etched in silver on the continent.

"Just two weeks ago, the NBBF won gold in the Women's Afrobasket. Again, you have shown by this latest victory, that the first was not a fluke.

"You have worked so hard in training and here is the result of your hard work, team work and determination. Nigerians are proud of you and you will be rewarded accordingly at the appointed time".

D'Tigers, who lost to the hosts Tunisia 65-77 in the final game, are expected to return home on Monday.
