The manager of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Gernot Rorh strongly believes that Odion Ighalo remains the best striker Nigeria has at this time.

He made this known on Monday during a chat on NaijaMade on DSTV. He described Ighalo's performance at the World Cup as a striker's unlucky moment.

"You know sometimes a striker can have unlucky moments and can miss a goal and miss confidence but the player himself has qualities.

"His abilities - technically, physically, tactically, his experience makes him for us the best player at the moment in that position (centre-forward).

"I was convinced and I was counting on his motivation to show to everyone that he is special.

"I was counting on his self-motivation after the World Cup, after the critics especially to show that he can still score goals.

"That's why I insisted that when we have penalties he has to step up and take it. I know it will give him confidence", Rorh said.

Rorh says there has been tremendous pressure on the coaching staff for putting him on the list.

"For me he is the best centre-forward for Nigeria. He and the staff have had to face a lot of pressure  but the results are coming good now", he added.
