Super Eagles will host Bafana Bafana in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo, and the West Africans are aiming to win the tie for late Stephen Keshi, who led the side to win the 2013 edition.

And that was the last time Nigeria qualified for the tournament, having missed out on two subsequent editions in 2015 and 2017.

As the campaign for a ticket to the 2019 edition in Cameroon begins on Saturday, defender Elderson Echiejile says the team will go all out for Keshi

"There's something always outstanding about the late coach (Keshi) - how he led the team. He was like a father figure to everyone; he was always there, he had that listening ears. And if there was any problem he always had a way of handling it.

"The way he talked to us, using himself as an example, are reasons he remains in my heart. Then there is the confidence level he imparted in the team; it remains amazing. We really do miss him, and we hope to get a result this Saturday (for him)," Echiejile said.

Echiejile could make his 54th international appearance for Nigeria if selected for the Afcon qualifier against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo this Saturday.
