Since the news of the resignation of Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, the internet has been buzzing with different theories.

While most report linked resignation to her alleged forgery of her NYSC exemption certificate, others say President Muhammadu Buhari actually sacked her.

For others, the story is a 'good distraction' for Nigerians on the outrage that trailed President Buhari's sack of Bayelsa-born Matthew Seyeifa as Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and his replacement with Yusuf Magaji Bichi from Kano State.

Although news of her resignation was first broken by Daily Trust around 12noon on Friday, September 14, Bounce News gathered that other mainstream newspapers including Punch, Tribune, Sun, and BusinessDay reported the story quoting the paper.

In a twist, Daily Trust website was shut down for about seven hours, raising suspicion if it is a clampdown by government. The site has however been restored.

Curiously, around 2pm, an aide to the Minister was reported to have promised a correspondent covering the ministry that a statement would be issued around 4pm but her phone became unreachable thereafter.

As of the time of filing this report at 6:38pm, neither the Presidency nor the Minister has denied the story.
