Former Education Minister and chairmanship candidate in the recent national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP), Professor Tunde Adeniran, has disowned a group which on Wednesday claimed leadership of the leading opposition party.

The group of “concerned candidates and stakeholders” of the PDP opened a national secretariat in Abuja and lamented the conduct of the December 9 national convention of the PDP, saying that the process that produced the leadership of Prince Uche Secondus was fraught with illegalities.

But Adeniran who spoke through the Director of his Campaign Organisation, Shehu Gaban, in Abuja stated that anybody who has genuine grievances was free to express them but cautioned that it should not be linked to him.

He said even though he was not completely satisfied with the conduct of the national convention, he had submitted himself to the internal dispute resolution mechanism of the party through which he said his concerns were being addressed.

Reacting to the presence among the group of some members of his campaign team, Adeniran insisted that they did not represent him.

The group led by Emmanuel Nwosu, also have Godwin Chinedu Duru, a National Organising Secretary candidate in the December 9 convention, Franklyn Edede (candidate for the Office of the National Youth Leader) candidate and Olukayode Akindele, Deputy Director General of the Professor Tunde Adeniran Campaign Organisation, among others.
