The National Chairman of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Joseph Avazi has been suspended.

Avazi was suspended over gross misconduct by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) on Wednesday.

A 7-man Disciplinary Committee has been set up to investigate the allegations leveled against Avazi.

This was made known in a communique read on Wednesday by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Nola Olayinka Morufat.

She stated that the NEC mandated Ayodele Ismail to act as national chairman pending the conclusion of the investigations.

Morufat said, ”NEC passes a vote of no-confidence of the national chairman, Chief Joseph Avazi for gross misconduct and accordingly, approved his suspension forthwith.

”NEC approved the uniform conduct of congresses and mandated the National Working Committee (NWC) to fix a date and communicate same to all state chapters.

”NEC adopted the amended constitution of the party which was approved for amendment by the 2015 National Convention in Abuja.

”NEC filled the vacancy in the south-east geo-political zone for the office of zonal chairman as Mr. Perry Iloegbuna and assistant legal adviser as Barr. Ken Emekowa.”

The AD also presented Nze Valentine Nwoka as its candidate for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
