Abuja Tremor: Dino Melaye Shares Experience And Update
If you are in Abuja and have felt the earth shaking that has triggered panic, Senator Dino Melaye wants you to know that you are not alone.
He is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and he wants every Abuja resident to know that he also felt the shake.
The Senator said he felt the tremors at his Maitama home too, but he wants residents to be calm, even though he acknowledge that it was scary.
On his Twitter page he wrote: "I have informed the FCT Minister and Permanent Secretary on the scaring earth movement in some parts of Abuja at 6:11am.
"I felt earth tremors in my home in Maitama too".
Senator Melaye's comment came before the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, shared some emergency numbers that residents could call and file reports.
Senator Melaya also gave an update on what his team had also done.
"Measures are being taken to address the problem. I will keep the FCT administration on their toes on this," he said.
In the last 48 hours there have been several shakes in Abuja, but the FCT Emergency Management Agency has asked residents not to panic, issuing some tips on what they should do.
