Abducted Mother, Sister of Nasarawa Lawmaker Released
After spending three nights in the 'den' of kidnappers, mother and sister of a member of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, can breathe the air of freedom.
Kassim Mohammed-Kassim’s (Akwanga South constituency) mum and sister were the abducted at their residence in Moroa village in Akwnaga at about 8 p.m.
The Nasarawa State Police Command spokesman, DSP Kennedy Idirisu, confirmed the rescue on Wednesday in Lafia.
According to Idirisu, the victims regained their freedom at about 3 a.m. after the combined efforts of the police, the vigilante and other security agencies.
Idirisu said the police is not aware if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the abductees.
However, a close family source said that the family parted with some money before the abductees were set free.
In recent weeks, cases of kidnapping have been on the rise with relatives of dignitaries and celebrities being primary targets.
