Do you still receive pesky unsolicited messages from your network providers?

If yes, you have not been utilizing your rights efficiently and you do have the opportunity to join about 8 million Nigerians who have stopped network service providers from breaching their privacy.

By dialing the 2442 Do-Not-Disturb code, 8 million Nigerians have one less thing to worry about, says the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, said this at the maiden edition of the Nigerian Technology Innovation and Telecommunications Awards, NTITA in Lagos.

He added that the level of activation of the code skyrocketed from nearly a million in March to about 8 million in October.

Meanwhile, Danbatta was given the Telecoms Man of the Year Award at the event as he attributed the achievement to NCC’s massive campaign and consistency with the eight-point agenda of his administration.

“More Nigerians are also accessing the 622 codes to lodge their complaints and I am happy to say that we have succeeded in resolving some complaints,” he said.

Other winners at the event include MTN which received the 4G/LTE Provider of the Year Award as well as Tecno which emerged the phone Brand of the Year.
