2017 saw a lot of highs for music in Nigeria. It seemed every week brought with it a new dimension from the music to the artistes and their squabbles, and let's not forget the international collaborations.

As we settle into the new year, Bounce News steals a glimpse into the future to determine major events that could shape the narrative of Nigerian music in 2018.

Here are 7 things we can expect in 2018 as far as music in Nigeria goes.

1. A Tekno Album

Finally, there’s no excuse.

His winning run of singles and his working with Drake are enough indication that we should be expecting an album in 2018.  Plus he definitely attained a new level of stardom last year after producing the runaway hit, 'If' and his international foray didn't hurt either. With all of these, we definitely expect an album from Tekno in 2018.

2.Mayorkun Consolidates His Star power

The DMW artist was on fire in 2017, dropping hits like 'Mama', 'Sade' and 'CheChe' thus cementing his position as a star.

The ball is now in his court to consolidate on 2017's good run to make 2018 even better.

3.  Wizkid And Davido Collaboration

Wizkid and Davido ended 2017 in peace after a year long social media feud.

So to consummate their new found love, the duo will need a recording studio where they would decide to either bless their fans with a single, or a joint album.

If they go for the collaborative album, then we can deduce that no other song or album from any artiste in 2018 will matter.

4. Davido’s Second  Album

He has the most Googled songs in Nigeria, he's won awards in Nigeria, Africa and in Europe. Clearly, Davido is rated as one of the biggest artistes out of Africa, yet he has only one album to his name.

Sony Music have been pushing back his album release, and compensated fans with the Son Of Mercy EP, but 2018 is the year Davido drops that long awaited album.

5. Reekado Banks Leaves Mavin Records

2017 was a great year for Reekado Banks.

Apart from Tiwa Savage, he was the only Mavin act that made a dent in the music industry.

Since joining the label in 2014, Banks has shown his potential but due to differences in the best way, we think he should pursue his solo career and he may have just positioned himself to kiss Mavin 2.0 goodbye to start a solo career.

6.  Psquare On Stage Together

Psquare remains one of the greatest pop groups out of Nigeria.

But after their most recent fallout, Peter and Paul confirmed that the Psquare group has been dissolved and each of them have gone on to pursue solo carers.

However, Davido had attempted to reunite the brothers at his 30 Billion Concert which held in Lagos on the 27th of December.

According to Davido, the brothers were willing to perform, but Paul was unfortunately already billed for another event on the same day in Calabar. This, for us, is an indication that we could get to see the brothers on stage together in 2018, although this may not necessarily mean a reconciliation.

7. Adekunle Gold finally proposes to  Simi for real

They fooled music fans twice.

They each knelt down at their individual concerts, sparking off rumors of a marriage proposal in the works, which never really saw the light of day.

None of them have refuted the rumor of their relationship, so it is safe to say that wedding bells are expected sometime this year, or at least an official outing as a couple.
