The first half of the year has witnessed some exciting songs that have provided excitement at weddings and birthday parties for many Nigerians.

It's been the year of the 'Shaku Shaku' sound and dance steps.

In no particular order here are 7 of the biggest songs that have been banging in our heads.

1. Wizkid - 'Soco' feat Terri, Ceeza Milli and Spotless

'Soco',  might just be the song of the year and judging by the reaction you get every time the song is played, we may just be right.

The song, which also stars artistes from his Starboy imprint, Ierri, Ceeza Milli and Spotless, has enough energy to set the dance floor on fire.

Soco's smooth production, call and response lyrics will make you want to put it on loop.

2. Davido-Assurance

After winning the Song of the Year and Artist of the year awards at the Headies 2018, Davido released Assurance, a song dedicated to his girlfriend, Chioma.

Assurance became more than a song. It has became a trend after Davido bought a 45 million Naira Porsche, as an assurance that he is not going to leave her.

Even politicians have jumped into the matter, with Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila surprising his wife, Yemisi, with a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, with plate number ‘Assurance.’

3. Olamide and Wizkid - Kana

Wizkid has been at the end of great tunes this year as he makes creative process look so easy.

The duo previously worked together on Olamide's ''Omo To Shan'' and have now created another hit track that could burn your speakers.

Ignore the video, enjoy the music, Kana is banging.

4. Olamide - 'Science Student'

We still certain Olamide has joined the fight against drug and alcohol abuse and his hit-making prowess shines through in 'Science Student'.

The song condemns the prevailing excessive intake of banned substances that occurs in society.

5. Mr Real - 'Legbegbe'

Released in late 2017. It took the year of Shaku Shaku for the song to take flight.

The 2018 Best Street Hop song at the 2018 Headies Award is a street anthem that has left its mark on the first half of the year.

6. Dj Spinall - 'Baba' feat. Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel creates a new fan favourite with DJ SPinall on the song 'Baba'.

He also subtly addresses his issues with G-Worldwide , ''No collabo, we still dey reign, For this collabo, wahala dey- Baba'',

7. Falz - 'This is Nigeria'

The 6.8 million Youtube views tells the whole story.

Falz addresses the state of the nation in 'This Is Nigeria'. He highlights the bad, worse and worst aspects of self denial among the country's elite.

The song was inspired by American rapper, Childish Gambino's, ''This is America''.
