Fans of the anti-corruption campaign in Nigeria will like this one.

The immediate past governor of Adamawa State has been jailed for 5 years without an option for fine.

James Ngilari was jailed on Monday by a High Court in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, for fraud totaling N167m.

Ngilari will have the choice of picking which prison to serve his sentence.

Many Nigerians will like to say God don dey catch them but then it’s important to note that Ngilari still has the option of appealing against the court ruling.

The EFCC had instituted a 19 count-charge against Ngilari for violation of procurement laws in the award of contract of N167million to one El-Yadi Motors Limited for supply of 25 units of operational vehicles (Toyota Corolla).

Ngilari was charged alongside his former Secretary to the Government, Ibrahim Andrew Welye and his former Commissioner of Finance and Budget, Sanda Jonathan Lamurde.

The judge, however, discharged and acquitted Welye and Lamurde.

Ngilari was governor of the state from October 1 2014 to May 29 2005.
