Hip hop in Nigeria almost died in 2017.

Rappers have been shifting gears into singing, just to adapt to the commercial trends in the music industry.

While some took that route and still made no impact, others succeeded and still found a way to keep their hip hop boots on.

The list below, in no particular order, contains a list of 5  rappers who were successful within the year in review, whether they were rapping or singing.

1. M.I Abaga

The rapper became the conscience of rappers.

MI Abaga started a conversation about the revival of Nigeria’s Hip-hop with the controversial single  ‘You rappers should fix up your life.’

Even though the song led to ‘beef’ between the Chocolate city boss and some other rappers, it made rappers more aware of their relevance in the Hip Hop culture.

2.Phyno
