5 Things We Would Always Love About Tosyn Bucknor
One of the darlings of Nigerian radio, 37-year-old Tosyn Bucknor died in her home on Monday, November 19 due to complications from sickle cell.
Her sister and one of Nigeria’s top events planners, Funke Bucknor Obruthe made an official statement on Tosyn’s death on her Instagram handle.
“My heart is heavy...but in all things, we give thanks to God. My darling sister and besto Tosyn passed"
Here are five things that we will always love about the late Tosyn Bucknor.
1 Radio's "Area Mama"
At Top Radio, a Lagos based radio station owned by Late Amaka Igwe, Tosyn anchored the morning drive show which became a highlight for many Lagosians for seven years.
Everyone wanted to call in to share his or her thought’s with radio’s ‘Area Mama.’
2. She Was A Sickle Cell Advocate
Though Tosyn was born with sickle cell anaemia, she lived a fun and exemplary life and ran a sickle cell advocacy platform known as “These Genes” which created awareness for sickle cell.
3. She Was Multi-Talented
Tosyn had so much talent to offer to the world. She was a writer, she sang, she acted she ran her own talk show. Tosyn even tried her hands on Deejaying.
4. She Could Act
She tried her hands in Nollywood and tarred in "Now We Are Married", "Tinsel" and a couple of other moviesand TV series, She wowed the audience with her performances.
5. She Will Be Remembered For Her Kindness
Her kindness and humility will not be forgotten.
“TOSYN...I am yet to meet anyone like you...You ALWAYS GAVE ME JOY. This world never deserved you. You are in a better place. The most real, I ever met.” Yemi Alade said while paying tribute to the late radio presenter.
Fellow broadcaster, Osi Suave tweeted “Tosyn was one of the kindest people I knew. Always willing to help and forever wearing a smile. This really hurts.”
Radio’s ‘Area Mama’ would be sorely missed.
