The Nigerian music industry is one of the fastest growing industries in Africa and the world at large.

Recently, Nigerian artistes have been riding high in the international music market and it gives one a sense of joy to know that foreigners appreciate the sounds which emanate from our shores.

Here are the major Nigerians doing their motherland proud and expanding the frontier of African music.

1) Wizkid

Ayo Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is arguably the biggest artiste in Africa at the moment.

His sold-out concerts and international collaborations are testament to this fact.

Wizkid is currently the poster boy of Nigerian music and his influence is such that his contemporaries aspire to reach his height.

A collaboration with one of the biggest artistes in the world presently, Drake on the Grammy nominated ''One Dance'' shot Wizkid to international status even though he had been doing other collaborations with other international artistes.

''Shabba'', a song which saw him feature Chris Brown, Trey Songz and French Montana, was another monster hit that the world got vibing to, not forgetting ''Ojuelegba'' remix and ''Come Closer'', songs that had US rapper Drake dropping some verses.

American website, hotnewhiphop said, “Expect WizKid to continue to be a refreshing voice on more star-studded hip-hop tracks in the near future. His movement is just beginning to take shape here in the U.S.”

Some of the famous artistes he has worked with include Drake, French Montana, Trey Songz, Tinie Tempah, Wale, Chris Brown, Kayla and Swizz Beatz.

Bad Boy CEO and rapper Diddy has been reported to be producing Wizkid’s forthcoming album.

2) Davido

If Wizkid is the Lionel Messi of the Nigerian music industry, David Adeleke aka Davido is most definitely the Cristiano Ronaldo.

Omo Baba Olowo (OBO) has paid his dues in the industry and it is no surprise that he is getting all the accolades both at home and internationally.

The CEO of Davido Music Worldwide recently added the 2018 BET International Act award to his ever-increasing award cabinet.

The Babcock university graduate has been releasing back-to-back hits since his 2012 single, ''Back When''.

Davido has also had his fair share of collaborations with international artistes, such as — Meek Mill, Trey Songz and Mafikizolo.

He has also been spotted hanging out with DJ Khaled, French Montana and Kent Jones — an indication of a possible collaboration in the works.

The icing on the cake for Davido, was his 2016 distribution deal with Sony, an international entertainment company.

3) Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, first lady of Mavin Records, is arguably the most successful indigenous female artiste in Nigeria.

Despite entering the Nigerian music landscape on the back of penning hit songs for several American artistes and serving as back-up singer for others, such as George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and more, Tiwa Savage’s hunger for greatness is unrivaled.

That hunger has helped her cultivate a large fan base and a staunchly loyal following.

With hit songs like ''Kelekele Love'', ''Love Me'', ''Eminado'' and ''Malo'', and also the club anthems with her label mates, Tiwa has held sway at the top of the music food chain for over 5 years.

In spite of her marital crisis, the incredibly talented singer has continued to forge ahead, unwavering.

Her efforts were rewarded in July 2016 when Roc Nation — owned by American music mogul, Jay Z — added her to its roster.
