5 Killed, 65 Houses Destroyed As Flood Ravages Gombe
They woke up on Friday with a lot of expectations for the day. Little did they know that their end had come.
A flood disaster has claimed the lives of five people, destroying over 65 houses, farm crops and other valuables in Cham town in Balanga local government area of Gombe state.
The downpour which occurred on Friday caused so much damage in the community and rendered many homeless, the district head of Kindiyo, Nataliyal Gigi told Bounce News.
He said three bodies have been recovered so far while the remaining two are still missing.
Chairman Balanga Local Government area of Gombe state, Bakari Keltuma who visited the community assured that the local government is collaborating with the state and federal agencies to bring relief materials to the flood victims.
“We are putting in measures to forestall future occurrence of this ugly situation in this area”, he said.
He also called on affected families and communities to exercise a little patience.
Government and non-governmental organisations it was gathered have been rendering relief and humanitarian service to the victims.
