It must be tough for Arsenal goalkeeper, Bernd Leno having to pick the ball from his own net five times on Saturday.

Despite taking the lead through Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Arsenal were well beaten 5-1 by Liverpool who extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Leno spoke to the media after the game and talked about having to move on from the disappointment.

“It’s a tough day for us today. We started off quite well but then we conceded two easy goals. Maybe some of the goals were unlucky. I don’t know whether one of the penalties was a foul, but I’m not sure. There were too many easy mistakes,” he said.

On missing players with injury, Leno believed that was not the difference against Liverpool because Arsenal have enough quality, even when somebody is injured.

He blamed the loss on too many mistakes and the result was simply the team being punished for their mistakes.

“They are a top team. Last season they reached the Champions League final and today we saw why.

“They capitalise on every mistake and turn it into a big chance. Today we made too many of these mistakes.”

Moving on, Leno wants his teammates to put the embarrassment behind them and look forward.

“Of course, today we’re disappointed, but tomorrow we have to look forward because we have another important game on Tuesday. It’s the first game of the year and on Tuesday we want to beat Fulham at home. We need to win.”
