So sad four people did not return home on Monday after heading out to their daily hustle.

They got caught up in a gas explosion.

The incident happened at Orji, a suburb town in Owerri, the Imo State capital, after a gas plant exploded.

Information gathered has it that the gas explosion occurred at about 4.35pm at Okpokiri Petroleum Station, near two commercial banks.

Adeyemi Wasiu and one Maruf who came from Abuja to fix gas at the petrol station, lost their lives, as well as two attendants at the filling station.

According to a survivor, Adubackoja Ochowotia who spoke with Punch, “We came from Abuja to fix the gas plant. We were working on it when the oxygen exploded and killed two of my colleagues.”

The Orji police command has moved the corpses away, while those wounded have been rushed to the hospital.

The tragedy occurred just three days after a truck, laden with diesel, rammed into an 18-seater bus at the Umuaka bridge end of the Owerri-Orlu Expressway.

Atleast 19 people burnt to death.
