34-Year Old Driver Hangs Self on A Tree In Lagos
Only late Ogbe Olalekan can explain why he decided to end it all on tree.
Could it have been because of the biting economic hardship or was he heartbroken?
These are questions begging for answers as his body was found dangling from a tree at the Kofo Abayomi junction, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, on the Victoria Island.
Residents alerted policemen from the Victoria Island division after the seeing the horrific sight.
A police source said nobody knew why the victim killed himself, adding that no suicide note was found on him.
“The only thing we found on him was his driving licence, which contained his name, age and address. Nobody knew him or could provide information about how he got there. The name on the licence read, Ogbe Adekitan Olalekan.”
Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of death and his motive.
In February, the Lagos state government recorded one case of suicide when the late Dr. Allwell Orji jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge into the Lagoon.
There were also three other suicide attempts which were fortunately prevented by the quick response of residents and security operatives.
The Commissioner of police in the state, Fatai Owoseni warned residents not to take their lives as it is a crime against the state.
